The ongoing digital revolution in healthcare has led, among other things, to the development of telemedicine and faster development of new medical devices. AI plays a significant role in analyzing health status, making diagnoses, and monitoring the therapeutic process of patients. Consequently, they significantly reduce the risk of medical errors. They prove helpful in the assessment of suspicious skin changes, interpreting mammographic results, and chest X-rays. However, medical devices containing AI mean not only benefits but also risks that need to be analyzed. The risks of usage of AI driven medical devices and proposals for regulations regarding civil liability for damages caused by AI algorithms will be highlighted by the lecturer.
